I've Hit a Milestone

"As we age, we begin to realize the value of a mother's love and the enormous depth of her commitment to us. No other relationship we form can ever be as close or profound as that with our mothers."

When I left for college, I thought I had learned all I needed to know from my parents! The older I get, the more I realize how wrong I was. I feel like I need them more and more. Although I had seen my mom freeze corn year after year, I still had no idea really how to do it.
After my sweet husband picked and husked over 10 dozen ears of corn, my mom gladly helped me boil, cut, cool, and bag it all, minus the ears Dallan ate raw! It was suprising how quick it went and easy it really is, but it is quite the process.
It is such yummy tasting corn, but we knew it would be coming from Cache Valley!! I think it even tastes better at dinnertime knowing it was made by lots of love and hard work. It really is rewarding to see the outcome of all the work.
It feels as though I've hit a milestone - I'm learning to freeze and can fruits and vegetables. I always thought that was so old fashioned and now look - Here I am!
I can't thank my husband enough for picking all that corn for us, and my mom for teaching me something that will bless my family for lots and lots of years.

I'm with you. I feel like my training in "motherhood" is coming right along. One more thing to check off the list: learning to can/bottle/freeze stuff properly!
Looks like you had fun. That is a lot of corn!!
